Louisiana roundups: Davis, Vault have big game as Block Bears roll

OLLA, La. — Vashawn Davis and Davonte Vault combined for 355 rushing yards and six touchdowns on just 22 total carries as the Block Bears annihilated the LaSalle Tigers 54-6 in District 4-1A action Friday night.

Block’s running game had its way with LaSalle’s defense from start to finish. The Bears amassed 442 yards on the ground. Davis finished with 241 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries while Davonte Vault had 114 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.

Davis had touchdown runs of 2, 60, 5 and 70 yards. Davonte Vault had touchdown runs of 9 and 46 yards. Trevor Vault had a solid game throwing the ball as he went 2-for-3 for 78 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown pass to TyQuentin Bell.

While Block (3-4, 1-0) racked up 520 yards of total offense, the only thing that did go wrong was penalties – eight of them for 80 yards. LaSalle fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in district play.

Block plays at Montgomery next Friday.

Homer 51, Ferriday 26

HOMER, La. — The Ferriday Trojans’ long road trip to Claiborne Parish didn’t turn out the way they were hoping for as they were routed by the Homer Pelicans Friday night in a District 2-2A game.

Ferriday fell to 3-4 overall and 1-1 district play. The Trojans play host to Lake Providence next Friday.
