NATCHEZ — Between of 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday award winning author Carl T. Smith will be signing his third novel “Louisiana Burn” at Turning Pages Books & More located at 520 Franklin St.

Smith’s previous novels have received excellent reviews from “Publishers Weekly,” “Fore Word,” “Library Journal,” and have won an international suspense award and have been a BookSense 76 selection. His work has been acclaimed by authors Pat Conroy, Homer Hickman, Les Standiford, Carolyn Hart, Lisa Wixon, Steve Berry and others.

“Louisiana Burn,” a sequel to “Lowcountry Boil,” follows the enigmatic Sam Larkin from the low country of South Carolina to the gulf coasts of Mississippi and Louisiana. Filled with colorful characters, personal tragedies, self-revelations and triumphs, “Louisiana Burn” is far more than a regional novel as it addresses the struggles of a modern-day everyman and the woman who stands beside him in face of murders, his battle against the governmental powers-that-be from Louisiana to Washington, D. C., and his own devils.

Set in 1981, “Louisiana Burn” predates the hurricane season of 2005, which forever altered the landscapes of southern Louisiana and the coastal Mississippi and the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who lived and worked there.
