VIDALIA — Services for Alvin Ray Davis, 62, who died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, after an extended illness, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riverside Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Glen Harrigill and the Rev. Garfield Harrigill officiating.
Burial will follow at Eva United Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Monterey under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Davis was born Feb. 19, 1949, the son of Jessie Davis Sr. and Bertha Ray Davis Cotten. He was retired from the oilfield industry and had served with the U.S. military forces.
Mr. Davis was Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dolly Breland; one brother, Morris Davis; and one niece, Kathy Taylor.
Survivors include three children, Jessie Davis III and wife, Kathleen, Misty Davis and Channing Halford; one sister, Dora King and husband, Ward; two brothers, Jesse Davis Jr. and wife, Rose, and Lucion Davis and wife, Sue; three grandchildren, Kain Jackson, Rayven Wallace and Layton Davis; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kain Jackson, Brandy Davis, Buddy Colton, Luke Davis, Fred Taylor and Jeremy Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Garfield and members of Riverside Baptist Church.
