Heritage Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Natchez helped raise $1,155 for Cathedral School with its Drive for the Kids program. The fundraising event was on Oct. 13 in conjunction with Cathedral’s Annual Fall Festival. Cathedral School plans to use the funds to offset the cost of a new mobile computer lab.

The Dodge Division of DaimlerChrysler donated $50 to Cathedral School toward expenses involved in hosting the event and an additional $5 for each demonstration drive completed with an evaluation form. Heritage Dodge Chrysler Jeep supplied a Grand Caravan, Nitro and Avenger for parents and friends to test drive and evaluate. Volunteers from the local dealership were on hand to assist in the fundraising activity.

Drive for the Kids is a mutually beneficial program.

“We’re interested in helping the schools, and everyone has a good time,” said Eugene Monagan, owner of Heritage Chrysler Dodge Jeep. “Parents are genuinely interested in testing and enjoying the new Dodge vehicles and we are able to provide additional dollars to schools in the Miss-Lou area.”

Chrysler Dodge Jeep has a special interest in education, and has committed substantial financial and human resources in support of educational grants and programs. Through its World of Work program, hundreds of Dodge employees volunteer time and skills to tutor and mentor students in plank communities. In addition to Drive for the Kids school fundraisers, the corporation has spent millions of dollars in support of educational initiatives including award-winning reading and child safety programs.
