NATCHEZ — A suspected robber was booked in the Adams County jail early Thursday morning after he reportedly threatened a stranger’s life for a mere $3.

Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Darrion Anderson, 21, 1003 Lotus Drive, was arrested shortly after his victim called the police with the license plate number of the car Anderson reportedly drove away in after the incident occurred.

Mayfield said the victim had stopped shortly after midnight on Thursday in the Church of Christ parking lot on U.S. 61 South near Beau Pré Road to make a cell phone call when a driver flashed his truck’s bright lights at the victim before pulling over.

Anderson, the alleged driver of the truck and robbery suspect, then asked the victim to borrow $20.

When the victim told the suspect he did not have $20, Anderson reportedly told the victim not to make him kill him and to give the Anderson something, Mayfield said.

Mayfield said the victim then gave Anderson the $3 he had on him and called the sheriff’s office with the license plate number of the suspect’s truck after it drove away.

Deputies located Anderson on Lotus Drive in the LaGrange area approximately an hour or so after the incident occurred, Mayfield said.

When deputies searched Anderson, they reportedly discovered marijuana on him, so Anderson was also charged with introduction of contraband into a jail facility — possession of marijuana.

Mayfield said Anderson was released on a $2,500 bond for robbery and $1,500 for introducing contraband into a jail facility—possession of marijuana, bonds Judge Patricia Dunmore assigned to him.
