NATCHEZ — Services for Moses Woods Sr., 85, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at his residence, will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at King Solomon Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Schiele officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Woods was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Adams County, the son of Steve Woods and Bessie Carroll Woods. He was a self employed auto mechanic.
Mr. Woods was a faithful member of King Solomon Baptist Church and served on the usher board.
He also served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosetta Jones Woods; three sons, Woodrow, Timothy and Donald Wayne Woods; and five brothers, Arthur, Phillip, Steve, Earnest and Sam.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosie Varnado and husband, Ron, of Madison and Gloria Miller of Natchez; six sons, Moses Woods Jr. and wife, Jackie, and Steve Woods and wife, Evelyn, all of Natchez, Harvey Woods and wife, Carolyn, of Lafayette, La., Carmen Woods and Raymond Woods, both of Atlanta, and Reginald McKnight of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Bertha Aldridge and Alice Agee, both of Los Angeles; three sisters-in-law, Jessie Murphy and husband, George, of Kansas City, Mo., Josie Woods and Alice Woods, both of Natchez; five brothers-in-law, Willie J. Jones and Albert Jones and wife, Juanita, all of Natchez, Johnny Stewart of Jackson, Charles Stewart of Chicago and Farman Stewart of Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Deborah Woods of Natchez; 30 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
