NATCHEZ — A local man was killed after a vehicle struck him Saturday night.

Anthony Merrick, 46, 120 Crown Court, was killed when he was hit by a 1997 Nissan Altima driven by Pamela Blackmore, 709 E St., Woodville.

Natchez police responded to the incident, which happened at the corner of Lynda Lee Drive and Old Washington Road, at 10:40 p.m., Chief Mike Mullins said.

Blackmore was returning home from dropping off a family member at work when she struck Merrick, who was wearing black pants, a black hat and a black and purple sweater, Mullins said.

The incident was accidental, Mullins said.

“It was dark in that area, and she didn’t even realize he was there until she hit him,” Mullins said.

Blackmore immediately went to a nearby relative’s house and called the police, Mullins said.
