NATCHEZ — Seven members of Natchez High’s track and field team will be leaving today to prepare for Saturday’s MHSAA Class 6A South State Track Meet at Biloxi High School.
On the boys’ side, Jeremy Davis will be competing in the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the long jump, Justin Hamilton in the shot put, Gabe Campbell in the 300-meter hurdles and Daniel Taylor in the 800-meter run.
On the girls’ side, Alicia Wimley will be competing in four events — the triple jump, the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the 400 meters. Teammate Sierra Bates will also be competing in the 200 meters and the 400 meters. And seventh-grader Kenya Davis will be competing in the 3,200-meter run.
“It’s been a long time since someone that young has competed in South State,” Natchez High track coach Larry Wesley said. “She’ll be competing with the big girls in 6A. This will be on a 6A course, not a little course.”
The top four athletes in each event will advance to the Class 6A State Meet.
