Burns to share work on wheel
Published 12:29 am Tuesday, October 4, 2011
The Natchez Garden Club is very proud to announce that Natchez native, Conner Burns will be providing, “Demonstrations on the pottery wheel” a presentation of his methods of creating vessels on the pottery wheel.
He will provide an illustration while discussing particular features that are components of well-designed and well-constructed clay vessels.
Conner is a local studio artist and gallery owner.
His studio is in beautiful downtown and his current work is focused on vessels, mostly a combination of wheel thrown and slab components all altered in some manner.
Conner is inspired by nature; he intends for his work to look as if it “grew that way” rather than being made.
Conner has received recognition and awards from a variety of galleries, art festivals, national clay organizations and art associations.
His work can be seen in books about glazes, teapots, cups, bowls and pitchers as well as national periodicals — Clay Times and Ceramics Monthly. Also, Conner’s artwork can be found in fine galleries and museums across the United States and in private collections in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Conner travels to teach workshops internationally and teaches locally at Natchez Clay.
