Joann Hales Burley

VIDALIA — Services for Joann Hales Burley, 78, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Wayne Gray and the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating. Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery in Monterey under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Burley was born March 5, 1933, the daughter of Samuel Chester Hales and Agnes Templeton Hales.

Burley was a resident of Vidalia, A homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ferriday where she was a member of the choir for many years. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother whose home was always opened to all. The greatest joys in her life were her family, children and grandchildren, and she never missed an extracurricular event in which any of them were involved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Billy” Franklin Burley Jr., and her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Burley of Monterey and Michael Burley and wife Ann of Ferriday; one daughter, Melinda Burley Patt of Vidalia; three grandsons, Zachary Burley, Hayden Patt and Rex Burley; and one granddaughter, Baily Burley.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Leblanc, Don Ater, Al Ater, Ed Ater, Joe Bryan and Richard Alwood.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Glendenning family.
