NATCHEZ — Natchez Police officers arrested two alleged car burglars Tuesday shortly after witnesses reportedly spotted them fleeing the crime scene on Union Street near St. Mary Basilica.

Crystal Rose Jr., 21, 10 Reba Christian Road, John Williams, 24, 601 Old Washington Road, were booked on two charges of burglary of a vehicle, Chief Mike Mullins said.

The suspects reportedly broke a window in a 2008 GMC Yukon parked at St. Mary and stole a purse and small amount of cash.

They also reportedly broke into a front window of a 2007 Chrysler 300 parked in the same area, but nothing was reported missing from that break-in.

Mullins said police are also investigating Rose and Williams’ involvement in two other burglaries that occurred Thursday in the same time frame and within a four-block location on North Union Street and near Rankin and B streets.

Police discovered Friday evening both men were recently released from prison, Mullins said.

He said NPD is looking into possible parole or probation statuses for both suspects to determine if a revocation hearing is in order.

The suspects were held without bond at NPD as of Wednesday night.
