Downtown rebirth is bright spot

Take a quick trip through downtown Natchez and you’ll see it all around.
It is everywhere.
It is on almost every corner.
It is visible in nearly every block.
It is part of the atmosphere.
It is part of our heritage.
It is our history reborn, reused and rediscovered.
The “it” is a growing rebirth of downtown properties.
An increasing number of downtown property owners are renovating and restoring their properties, perhaps more now than ever before.
And that’s great news, great news right now and great news in the years ahead.
Immediately, all of the renovations and restorations help improve the economy. The dollars spent on paint, sheetrock and wood roll over in our community several times.
That money improves the government through increased tax revenue and improves the pocketbooks of the workers employed by the projects.
In the long run, however, after the sawdust is swept up and smell of fresh paint has diminished, the community as a whole is better off, too.
Natchez is lucky that it has such a lively, vibrant downtown. With each new renovation project, the downtown gets just a little better.
When property owners and investors do their work well, the 1800s heritage harmony blends beautifully with modern-day use melody.
Together, they form an amazingly beautiful ensemble that will entertain downtown visitors for years and years to come.
