NATCHEZ — A 15-year-old male has been charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary.
Two of the burglaries took place on Edgin Street. The first break-in was reported at noon on Wednesday. Items taken from the first residence were a cordless phone and food.
The second burglary on Edgin Street was reported at 1:25 p.m. and was a burglary of a car. A purse, a cell phone and a small amount of cash were taken from the vehicle.
Around that same time, an attempted break-in was reported on Watts Avenue.
Also in that same time vicinity was a break-in of a different residence on Watts Avenue. Prescription drugs and a cell phone were taken from that residence. The male was spotted by a witness and ran into the woods.
It was reported at 4:30 p.m. that same day that he tried to break into a house on Dumas Drive but was unable to enter.
A purse and a cell phone have been recovered from the Edgin Street burglaries, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
Mullins said Friday’s arrest is not connected to the home-invasion break-ins that occurred from December to January and are not even similar.
“Those were nighttime occupied dwellings,” he said, referring to the previous break-ins.
The residences broken into on Wednesday were not occupied and all break-ins took place during the daytime.
