NATCHEZ — City, county and school district leaders will meet today to discus possible solutions to issues with the Natchez-Adams School District — namely those of the aging school buildings.
The Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee will host the meeting in order to follow up on a May event the committee hosted called “get on the bus,” wherein city leaders toured school grounds.
The group planned the event to give officials and economic development entities first-hand knowledge of the community’s educational facilities.
“It’s not a finger-pointing (session), we’re just trying to get the conversation started,” said committee member and chamber president Debbie Hudson.
Hudson said the goal is to discover groups can work together to move forward in improving buildings that were built in the 50s.
The meeting set for 5:30 p.m. at the Natchez Convention Center will include the NASD school board and superintendent, the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, the Natchez Board of Aldermen and the Adams County Board of Supervisors.
