NATCHEZ — Two local men were arrested after one of them was found to have burglary tools in his possession.
John Arthur Thomas, 41, 130 Ruby Road, Ferriday was arrested on charges of possession of burglary tools early Saturday morning.
A Natchez patrol officer stopped Thomas at 2:30 a.m. as he was walking down Auburn Avenue near Duncan park.
When questioned, Thomas reportedly told the officer he was looking for a club, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
After the officer told Thomas to turn out his pockets, he allegedly had a flashlight and a screwdriver on his person.
At the same time, an officer patrolling near Winchester Road and Magnolia Road stopped a vehicle driven by Daniel Butler, 26, 354 Doty Road, Ferriday, because the vehicle was driving slowly through the area.
Thomas could apparently see the stopped vehicle, and he reportedly told the police Butler was his friend.
When the two were questioned, the two admitted knowing each other but their stories did not corroborate, Mullins said.
Butler was charged with no driver’s license.
The matter is being investigated, and it is currently being considered a burglary investigation, Mullins said.
