Education standards are unrealistic
No valid state educational measurement test can be allowed to stand. The ACT was dumbed down in 1991, now 18 is a 20 for instance.
A recent Baton Rouge paper has the latest move by state educators. This time change is due to federal incompetence.
The LEAP test, eighth grade version, will be messed with so students who “nearly pass it” will get waivers.
“We are adjusting our standards,” State Superintendent Paul Pastorek said. “I don’t think we are lowering our standards.”
Waivers to re-test, waivers if you fail a part, give us all a break. The dufus federal government forces special education kids to take this test and pass it. Explain how that makes any sense?
So this is another consequence of the feds in education. Why should special education students be forced to the standard in the first place? How about getting our congressional royalty to address this absurdity? Did I mention I am a retired classroom educator?
