Woman found dead in Ferriday; case being investigated as homicide

FERRIDAY — A Ferriday woman is dead in what is being investigated as a homicide.
The Ferriday Police Department received a call about a possible death in a residence in the area of Carolina Avenue and Fifth Street at approximately 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Police Chief Richard Madison said.
Concordia Parish Coroner Sarah Lee pronounced LaTasha Bates, 23, dead on the scene.
“We found various evidence a homicide had taken place at the residence,” Madison said.
Madison did not disclose the cause of death Thursday night.
The Ferriday Police were conducting interviews regarding the matter Thursday night, Madison said.
Bates’ body was shipped to Jefferson Parish for an autopsy.
