NATCHEZ — Monday’s severe weather event forced several baseball teams to postpone their games that were scheduled to be played on Tuesday.

Also, two area softball teams that were scheduled to play junior varsity and varsity games decided to play just the varsity game.

Natchez High was scheduled to host Wingfield in a Division 6-5A game at Chester Willis Field Tuesday afternoon, but that has been moved to Monday. The varsity game will start at 5 p.m.

Cathedral’s Region 8-1A game against Salem at Dexter was postponed until Friday due to the rough weather that hit much of Walthall County. That county was placed under a tornado warning three different times Monday. The Green Wave will host the Wildcats for a varsity doubleheader at Chester Willis Field with the first game at 5 p.m. and the second game at 7 p.m.

Franklin County’s Region 7-3A varsity doubleheader at home against Jefferson County was postponed until Thursday. The first game will start at 5 p.m. and the second game is to begin at 7 p.m.

Monterey’s home game against Jena was cancelled and will not be rescheduled. However, the Wolves’ home game against Block that was postponed on Monday because of the weather has been rescheduled for Monday, April 21. The junior varsity game will start at 3:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 5 p.m.

But despite the rough weather that hit parts of Mississippi on Monday, WCCA head coach Ray Olive decided to go on with the Rams’ home game against Centreville Academy as scheduled.

“I’m not rescheduling anything,” Olive said. “We’ll go out there and freeze our butts off. The field should be dry enough by then to play.” Then meaning 5 p.m. for the junior varsity game and 7 p.m. for the varsity game.

As for Cathedral and Franklin County’s fast-pitch softball teams, they still played their respective division games on Tuesday. However, their varsity games were pushed to earlier times. The Lady Green Wave’s Division 8-1A game at Bogue Chitto started at 5 p.m., and the Lady Bulldogs’ Division 7-3A game at North Pike started at 5:30 p.m.
