FAYETTE — Services for Hattie Smith James, 76, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill No. 2 Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. James was born Dec. 1, 1934, in Fayette, the daughter of James and Cora Harried Smith.
She was baptized at an early age and was a member of Rose Hill No. 2 Baptist Church.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Noah Smith; three brothers, James Smith, John Robert Smith and Leon Smith; one sister, Lebrada Primous; and one grandson, Kenyata Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Levi James; six children, Earl Ray Smith and wife, Joyce, of Lorman, Josie Campbell and husband, Walter, of McCall Creek, Robert Smith and wife, LaDina, of Fort Worth, Texas, Terry and wife, Shirley Faye and Gretanora Smith, all of Fayette, and the Rev. Curtis Smith and wife, LaToyia, of Natchez; one brother, Hugh Smith and wife, Edna, of Chicago; three grandchildren she raised, Byris Smith, Kimberly Nichols and husband, Christopher, and Nazarius King, all of Fayette; three stepchildren, Alleana Lowe, Delores James and Kenny Rowan, all of Fayette; 14 grandchildren, Cottrell Ragland and wife, Anglea, of Byram, Danyata Smith and wife, Erienne, and Dr. Evelyn Smith, all of Lorman, Thomas Smith of Jackson, LaDaysha Smith of Forth Worth, Terrell Smith, Montrell, Olajawon Oneal, Nathaniel King, Faith Cooks, Terry Young Cooks and Jackie Gibson, all of Fayette, Lilly Smith of Houston, Texas, Ahustyn Smith, Zoé and Angel Beckworth, all of Natchez and Ebony Campbell of Port Gibson; 13 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Rhonda Thomas of Cannonsburg; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
