NATCHEZ — Cathedral recently completed one of its finest basketball seasons in the school’s history and the team was rewarded by placing four players on the all-region team.
Juan Gray, Andy Lucas, Skylar Bacon and Daniel Culbert were all named to the All-Region 8-1A team following the Green Wave’s 26-6 season and berth in the South State Tournament.
All four players were instrumental in Cathedral’s season, including a school record 26 wins and South State Tournament appearance for the first time in recent memory.
The Green Wave finished second in the region in the regular season, but won the region tournament, including a pounding of regular season champion West Lincoln 51-25 in the tournament’s championship game.
The Wave then defeated Sebastopol in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the South State Tournament before being eliminated by Durant, who went on to play in the Class 1A State Championship Game.
All four of the players selected to the All-Region Team were seniors for Cathedral, which means the Green Wave will have a lot of talent they will have to replace next season.
Cathedral was one of the schools in the region that had the most players selected to the All-Region Team.
The All-Region Team was selected by the coaches of the region schools.
