NATCHEZ — Unplayable field conditions due to rain that fell between mid-afternoon Monday and early Tuesday morning forced some of Tuesday afternoon’s high school softball and baseball games to either be postponed or canceled.
Natchez High’s Division 6-5A fast-pitch softball game against Brandon at the Natchez-Adams Girls Softball Complex was postponed.
No make-up date has been set.
The Cathedral Green Wave was scheduled to travel to Monterey, La. to take on the Wolves in a varsity game, but that game has been canceled.
Also, ACCS was scheduled to open up its MPSA District 3-AA portion of the scheduled against River Oaks in Monroe, La., but that has been pushed to today.
The junior varsity game will start at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.
Centreville Academy was scheduled to take on Central Private in the MPSA District 5-AA opener for both teams.
However, the junior varsity and varsity games were postponed, but whether they play today or not remains to be seen.
Central Private’s varsity team is currently 7-0 and ranked No. 2 in the latest Clarion-Ledger private school baseball poll.
Franklin County’s Region 7-3A varsity doubleheader at South Pike has been rescheduled for today with the first game starting at 5 p.m. and the second game at 7 p.m.
That means the Bulldogs’ originally-scheduled games today at Wesson have been canceled.
It is not the first time area baseball and softball games were affected by inclimate weather. Numerous games were postponed last week and weekend, including the Vidalia High Baseball Classic, which was not able to have championship games due to rain on Friday.
