Let’s double taxes on the Democrats

After reading the article by the syndicated columnist Martha Randolph Carr in The Natchez Democrat (8/25/11), I felt very fortunate that I was able to keep my breakfast down. I strongly disagree as to whom the liar is.
Why should Obama put Social Security on the bargaining table as an entitlement to be cut? (Entitle: to give a person a right or claim to something.) To the taxpaying U.S. citizens, who pay into the Social Security and Medicare systems, this does not seem to be a free gift. The free gifts (entitlements) are such things as Medicaid, welfare, food stamps, WIC and government housing. (Did I leave out some cell phones?)
Why not tax these free gifts? Social Security would be solvent if the government had not “borrowed” from it and paid benefits to non-paying people — both citizens and immigrants.
I agree that we should tax the rich more. My plan would be to double the taxes on all Democrats and especially the rich ones. This idea should be agreeable since most Democrats seem to want more taxes and the people that receive the most “entitlements” are Democrats. The Republicans and Tea Party surely would compromise on this issue.
When you quoted the recent polls by CBS, The N.Y. Times and CNN, you must have made an error by leaving out MSNBC. Are the Americans polled from the United States, Central America, South America, or all of the above? Did any of these people vote more than one time as is done in elections? Your figure of 63 percent of the people wanting more taxes might not be too far off in the near future.
Taxpayers are fast becoming the minority to the government-assisted people. Are those that came up with the poll figures the same ones that said the world is flat several hundred years ago? I did not see the FOX name on the polls!
The Democratic solution is to have people boil water faster in the sinking boat rather than fix the hole that keeps getting larger.
Are we on the path to kill the goose that laid the golden eggs because the goose can’t produce enough eggs to satisfy the government’s appetite?
Government needs to be run like a business. If I were a banker and the U.S. government was a business, I would not loan them a dime. If I were a foreign socialist country (or government), I would continue to loan the U.S. all the money they wanted, knowing that one day the U.S. system would fail and I would “own” the country. For each loan — there is a limit, for each debt — there is a payday.
Katrina was a good example of how wisely the U.S. government spends money. There has been enough money spent to have built new houses for all of the storm victims and have money left over. I estimate very conservatively that government spends $10 in tax money to provide $1 worth of services! This reminds me of my favorite government bumper sticker: “If it is not broke; fix it until it is.” No lie!
The ever increasing EPA laws, fueled by the hot air coming from the mouth of such people as Al Gore, are probably costing businesses (and ultimately the consumer) more money and job losses than the recession.
When the cost of doing business in the U.S. and competing with foreign companies becomes unprofitable, companies either close their doors or move to those foreign countries with less or no pollution laws.
More taxes cannot fill the hole in a bottomless pit with money.
The pit needs to be filled with a bottom and be filled with cuts to wasteful spending. I’m willing to give the “third rail” a try, the first two have failed!
