FERRIDAY — Golfers enjoyed the great weather and good fellowship at the 10th annual St. Patrick Catholic Church Shamrock Shootout Saturday afternoon.
The event, a 27 hole, three-person scramble, was won by the team of David Jones, Raymond Kelly and Greg Brooking.
The team of Jerry Johns, Josh Johns and Keith Dallalio won the second flight while the team of Gary Jones, Terry Jones and Ryan Borsch took first place in the third flight.
The tournament took place at Panola Woods Country Club in Ferriday and was a great success as a fundraiser for the church, the Rev. Father Louis Sklar said.
“We had another successful tournament,” Sklar said. “For the second year in a row the weather was beautiful. Everybody had a good time.”
In addition to the golf, the participants were fed a traditional Irish meal of Irish stew and cabbage.
Sklar gave tremendous credit to a team of volunteers, especially tournament chairwoman Suzanne Vegas.
“She did a great job and was assisted by the parishioners of the church,” Sklar said. “Everyone did a fantastic job. This is only my third year to be here. It was another stellar year.”
