NATCHEZ — Services for Homer Lafayette Flournoy Jr., 73, of Natchez, who went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Flournoy was born March 9, 1938, in Natchez, the son of Homer Lafayette Flournoy Sr. and Emma Beneditine Flournoy. He was a member of St. Mary Basilica and the Quarter Century Club.

Mr. Flournoy retired from International Paper Company after 43 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include three sisters, Betty Shannon of Natchez, Mary Helen VanVlack of Ivanhoe, N.C. and Dorothy Strickland of Lake St. John; one brother, James W. Flournoy of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Mary Basilica or to a charity of choice.
