NATCHEZ — A string of indictments on Tuesday named several Ferriday and Concordia Parish law enforcement officials.

Ferriday officials said they did not know the reason for the grand jury indictment for officers Ricky Hollins, John Hawkins and Willie Robinson, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Robert Davis and former Ferriday Police Department employee Juanita January.

Charges listed on the indictments reportedly include false imprisonment and malfeasance.

District Attorney John Johnson could not be reached for comment.

Ferriday Police Chief Richard Madison said he knew several officers were under investigation but said he had no idea what for.

Concordia Parish Sheriff Randy Maxwell could not be reached for comment, but Monroe TV station KNOE was reporting Tuesday night that Davis resigned from his CPSO position Tuesday and was expected to turn himself in today.

Davis formerly served as Ferriday Police Chief.

Ferriday Mayor Gene Allen said he heard the indictments of Hollins and Hawkins stemmed from traffic stops several months ago.

Allen said the officers were targeted for ticketing white females who then complained to the district attorney.

Allen said the officers were indicted for “doing their jobs.”
