Monterey man killed in accident on U.S. 84

VIDALIA — A Monterey man was killed Saturday when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree.
Darwin S. Enlow, 86, was driving his 2003 GMC Yukon on U.S. 84 just east of Louisiana 566 when he lost control of the vehicle, a state police press release said.
Enlow was west bound on the highway, exited the roadway and collded with the tree.
He was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Concordia Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
Routine toxicology tests are pending.
Troop E Troopers — the area that includes Concordia Parish — have investigated a total of 11 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 11 fatalities. Two of the 11 fatalities have involved pedestrians. Eight of the nine fatal crashes involving vehicles only have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants.
