With Easter behind us and the azaleas nearly at full bloom, it’s truly spring in the Miss-Lou.

Pilgrimage will last for another two weeks, before our community gets back to the slow pace we all love.

But the first week of spring — last week — brought some blooms of its own. Let’s review the week’s good news.

4At least three big Easter egg hunts kept children scouting the ground beneath them last week, but one of the hunts had an ulterior motive.

Miss-Lou Team Extreme and the Vidalia Women’s Club sponsored an egg hunt last Sunday to raise funds for Relay for Life. Before the counting was done, the group believed they would raise more than $1,800 for the cause.

These teams truly had a fun-raiser of an idea.

4The Natchez trolley is riding the streets again. After years without its presence, it’s great to see this public transit system’s trolley up and rolling again. The trolley is newly renovated, and the city sponsored a week of free rides last week. Now, a $3 daily pass means locals and tourists alike can hitch a ride around downtown in style.

4At least some portion of $6 million may be coming to U.S. 84 in Concordia Parish. The Louisiana Legislature recently appropriated the money for work on the highway known as the El Camino Corridor. The money may lead to a four-lane roadway, something that could be positive for Ferriday.
