HATTIESBURG (AP) — Conference USA has given Barry Bowden its pitcher of the week award for the second consecutive time.
The senior right-hander won the award for the third time in five weeks after winning a duel with Rice all-American Ryan Berry in a 1-0 victory last week in Houton, spurring the Golden Eagles to a series victory.
Bowden (5-1) struck out 10 and allowed four hits in 8 2/3 innings against the Owls.
He’s pitched 43 innings this season with a 1.47 earned-run average.
