TUNICA (AP) — Tunica County authorities say the death of a 63-year-old Tunica man may have been flood-related.
Tunica County Sheriff Randy Stewart says the body of James Paul Smith was found floating in floodwaters near a camp in the Tunica Cutoff area at 1:15 p.m. Thursday.
Stewart says that while the cause of death appears to have been drowning, his office will investigate to make sure there was no foul play.
A rising Mississippi River is at or near flood stage in the Tunica area, causing sporadic problems.
Stewart said Smith was last seen riding a four-wheeler and leaving the Sunset Lounge in the Tunica Cutoff.
