The suspect of the shooting, Riley Trask, 25, 204-A Watts Ave., turned himself into the Natchez Police Department at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Police Chief Mike Mullins said. Trask was booked for aggravated assault.

Mullins said the victim, Guy Anthony Allen, 20, 102 St. Catherine St., was reportedly in stable condition at Natchez Regional Medical Center before an Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter transported him to University Medical Center for further treatment.

Allen reportedly called 911 and told police officers who met him at NRMC that Trask shot him.

Mullins said Allen reportedly told police he was shot while sitting in the driver’s seat of his car when he rolled down his window to talk to Trask.

Mullins said police recovered the bullet in Allen’s car, which entered and exited Allen’s right shoulder.

The incident occurred in the 200-block of Watts Avenue, the same block in which Trask lives.

Mullins said the suspect and victim have been involved in an ongoing dispute.

“I’m not sure of the motive, but (the suspect and victim) knew each other,” Mullins said.
