FERRIDAY — Graveside services for Wesley P. Preis, 51, of Lake St. John, who died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, after an extended illness, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 2 p.m. today at the Natchez City Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Varnado officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Preis was born on May 6, 1960, in Natchez. It was Wesley’s trademark that he loved people and never met a stranger. He was truly a friend to all. Wesley had a love for flying and ambitions to obtaining his pilot’s license. Additionally, Wesley loved attending live concerts and enjoyed seeing such acts as Willie Nelson, Bob Seger, Crosby, Stills and Nash and a number of others. Before Wesley’s death, he worked for WMS Marine Inc., where he had ascended to the position of tankerman.

Wesley Preis was a graduate of Tensas Academy in St. Joseph, La., and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe, La.

He is preceded by his father Louis Preis; his grandparents Robert William and Ruth Crawford and Louis Sr. and Edna Preis.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Wesley Preis and Richard Louis Preis; his mother, Mary Beth Whitehead and husband, Herbert, of Lake St. John; three siblings, Louis William “Bill” Preis of Helena, Mont., Catherine Ann Davis and husband, Cary, of Choudrant, and Scott Kullman Preis and wife, Melissa, of Cumming, Ga.; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and his very special friends and caregivers, Kim and Steve.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Bonnette, Eugene Causey, Roy Jackson and Tony Daves.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Camellia Hospice of Vidalia for their compassion and care. Additionally, to Dr. Bennett and the nursing staff of ICU at Rapides Medical Center in Alexandria.
