Tenn. man dies in parish wreck

CLAYTON — A Memphis man died in a Concordia Parish wreck Friday afternoon.
Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the fatal crash involving two vehicles. The crash occurred on U.S. 65, milepost 17.7, approximately one mile north of Clayton.
The crash involved a 2003 Lincoln Town Car, driven by Charles B. Malham, 73, of Memphis and a 2007 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Oran L. Daniel, 85, of Pineville, La. The Lincoln was southbound on U.S. 65 when Malham crossed the center line and collided head on with the Chevrolet, which was north bound on U.S. 65, a state police press release said.
Malham was pronounced dead. The Concordia Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
Daniel received moderate injuries and was transported to Riverland Medical Center. His only passenger, Marilyn E. Daniel, 85, of Pineville, also received moderate injuries and was transported to Riverland Medical Center.
Routine toxicology tests are pending.
Troop E Troopers have investigated a total of 14 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 14 fatalities. Two of the 14 fatalities have involved pedestrians.
Eight of the 12 fatal crashes (vehicle only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Seat belt use is unknown in one fatal crash.
Three fatal victims were restrained.
