NATCHEZ — Mark Fortenbery and Frances Thompson Bailey head into a May 20 run-off for the Natchez Board of Aldermen Ward 5 seat.

After all of the affidavit and absentee ballots were counted Wednesday morning, Fortenbery ended up with 404 votes or 48.9 percent of the vote, not enough votes to gain a majority in the race. Bailey came in second with 331 votes or 40.1 percent of the vote. Tim Sessions came in third with 91 votes or 11 percent of the vote.

In the race for mayor, Phillip West gained 29 votes in Ward 5. Jake Middleton gained 24 votes. After the affidavit and absentee ballots were counted in Ward 5, Middleton leads West 2541 votes to 2322 votes.
