Rescue crews from the Natchez Fire Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the Adams County Road Department and Chop’s Wrecker Service worked furiously at midnight Saturday to rescue a woman trapped after her truck lodged underneath a fallen tree on Lower Woodville Road.
At about 11:30 the Natchez Fire Department was called to bring the Jaws of Life to the scene about 1/2 mile north of White Apple Road in south Adams County.
Reports are that the tree had already fallen across the road when the woman and her traveling companion were traveling south. The couple apparently did not see the tree before they slammed into it and became lodged underneath it. The woman was in the passenger seat. Her male traveling companion escaped with minor injuries.
Chop’s Wrecker lifted the large tree at approximately 12:15 a.m. Emergency responders were working to remove the woman from the car at 12:30. She was alert.
