NATCHEZ — Roy Garcia has touched many lives in his coaching career at Cathedral School, and with his retirement at the end of this school year, Sunday’s athletic awards banquet was a tribute to Garcia in many ways.
Garcia, the outgoing athletic director at Cathedral, presented awards to many student-athletes at the ceremony which recognized athletes who participated in every sport at Cathedral this year.
“There’s nothing in life that compares to the relationships you make with people,” Garcia said. “Life is what you make it.”
Many students said they are sad to see Garcia leave, and had only good things to say about him.
“He’s a great guy,” Cathedral senior Jesse Morrison said.
“He’s always saying hello to somebody.”
In Garcia’s last year at Cathedral, the Green Wave experienced great success in athletics.
