NATCHEZ — Services for John “Jo Jo” Thompson, 55, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Melrose Church of Christ with the Rev. Michael Hoggatt officiating.
Burial will follow at Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 27, 1955, the son of Emanuel Smith and Ella Mae Thompson. He attended Natchez public schools and was a member of Melrose Church of Christ.
Mr. Thompson was employed as an oil field laborer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include three sons, John Givens and wife, Sangnetta, Anthony Thompson and wife, Aerica, and Sam Hoggatt and wife, Alisha; one daughter, Ruthie Abraham; one sister, Katie “Dolly” Thompson and her companion, Herman Phipps; one brother, Charles “Be Bop” Thompson; eight grandchildren, John Givens, Saniyah Givens, Kilah Oneal, Keandra Logan, Arthur D. Thompson, Anthony Thompson Jr., Saniyah Hoggatt and Destiny Yearby, all of Natchez; three aunts, Exlena Willis of Natchez, Alberta Harper and Ethel Harper, both of Chicago; and two uncles, James Thompson of Natchez and Jessie Smith of St. Louis, Mo.
