NATCHEZ — Former Adams Christian School and Copiah-Lincoln Community College star Timmy Foster was recently named to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges All-State team.

“It’s a pretty high honor,” Foster said. “Last year I was hoping to be named to the team but wasn’t fortunate enough.”

During his sophomore season at Co-Lin Foster was a machine in the batter’s box, leading his team in batting average (.356.), home runs (9), RBI (47), total bases (93), slugging-percentage (.637) and on-base percentage (.451).

In addition to that, Foster also compiled 21 walks, 41 runs scored and 10 doubles.

“Timmy Foster is the epitome of the student athlete,” Co-Lin baseball coach Keith Case said. “He’s a great guy to have represent you on and off the field. It was a pleasure to have him represent us on and off the field.”

Although his hitting has garnered him recognition, Case said Foster is a dynamic athlete.

“He can swing it and he runs extremely well for his size,” Case said. “Arm-wise, he can play anywhere on the field.”

Case also said Foster’s work ethic was crucial to his success.

“He’s (at the batting cages) late at night hitting. He just worked overtime swinging it, and studied himself on film. You have those few players you hate to lose, and Timmy is one of those.”

In addition to his work ethic, Case said Foster’s strong wrists were an asset.

“His wrists are strong enough that he can hit professional pitching,” Case said.

Case said he had known about Foster long before he was a senior at ACCS.

“I first heard about him in eighth grade when he was playing youth travel ball,” Case said. “Timmy is a guy that’s hard to hide — he’s that good of an athlete.”

Thanks to Foster’s accomplishments on the baseball diamond, he’ll be continuing his playing career at Belhaven College.

Foster said he signed his letter of intent Tuesday night.
