Arrangements are under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Putnam was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Dardenell, Ark., the daughter of George A. and Winnie Day. She married James D. Putnam Christmas Eve in 1948 and remained married until his death in 1985.

Lucy lived in Ferriday and Hammond, La., and eventually moved to Baton Rouge where she lived for the past 32 years. She was employed by Delta Bank in Ferriday as a bank teller for 11 years before moving to Hammond. Her life was devoted to her family. She was a very generous person who was an excellent cook and kept an immaculate home. She loved to work in her yard and play pokeno with her friends.

Mrs. Putnam walked and rode her bike until she was 75 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years; her parents; and two brothers, John Day and Jack Day.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Putnam and wife, Diane, and Brett Putnam and wife, Brandi; and two grandchildren, Lindsay Klein and Blaise Putnam (who Lucy referred to as “her baby.”)

The family thanks the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice and Old Jefferson Community Care for the excellent care and compassion given while Mrs. Putnam was a patient.
