FAYETTE — A 43-year-old Jefferson County man is expected to be arraigned today on charges of murder.
Roy Cedric Larry is the prime suspect in the murder of Willie Queen Jr., 50. Larry, who was arrested Sunday, is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond, Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker said.
Queen suffered lacerations to both his head and body, and his body was found on an Oak Street lot behind an abandoned house on Oak Street Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The JCSO recovered the believed murder weapon — a machete knife — Sunday. Walker said the blood-covered knife was processed and delivered to the Mississippi Crime Laboratory in Jackson Monday.
Walker said Larry and Queen were reportedly involved in a confrontation in close proximity to where Queen’s body was found, but Larry has denied those reports.
“(Larry) is denying having any contact with the deceased,” Walker said.
Witnesses reported seeing Larry in the area, according to previous reports.
Walker said there are no other suspects at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
