NATCHEZ — Mississippi residents have an opportunity to support the Special Olympics by just tooling around town or taking a long road trip.
New Special Olympics car tags have been approved by the state legislature, however, 300 tags must be pre-sold before the tags enter the manufacturing phase.
Natchez resident Carolyn Couch, who volunteered to support the project locally, said the tags cost an extra $31, with $24 directly funding Special Olympics in Mississippi.
The money raises funds for activities for Special Olympics participants, including trips to summer and fall games.
Couch said once the 300 tags are pre-ordered, they will be available at the tax collector’s office in January. Purchasers will be notified to pick up their new tag.
Couch said those interested in purchasing the new tag should call her at 601-442-2125, and she will mail the necessary forms.
