BROOKHAVEN — The Natchez Coach Pitch All-Stars had one bad inning, but it led to their defeat Tuesday night in a winner’s bracket game in Brookhaven.

The Natchez team made several errors in the third inning, leading to seven Copiah runs in a 11-5 loss.

“We had one bad inning,” Natchez coach Josh Hargon said. “Other than that one inning, we played good defense. You take away those seven runs and we win 5-4.”

The third-inning defense wasn’t the only disappointing thing. Natchez’s normally hot bats went cold.

“We did not hit the ball well at all,” Hargon said. “That’s our strength and we didn’t do it well at all.”

Natchez gets a day off before they play in an elimination game at 6 p.m. Thursday.

They will play the loser of Wednesday’s Copiah, Lincoln County Americans game.

Hargon said the day off will help his team get back into a winning mindset.

“We’ll practice (today) and get back to hitting the ball,” Hargon said. “That’s what we do best.”
