Parish qualifying complete

VIDALIA — Seventh Judicial Court Division B Judge Leo Boothe will not face any opposition in the upcoming election.

Boothe’s counterpart in division “A” of the court will see a challenge, however, and other candidates qualified for district attorney, justices of the peace and constables during the qualifying period for the Oct. 4 primary, which ended Friday.

Those who qualified for the election include:

For Seventh Judicial District Court, division A: Democrat Kathy Johnson, of Jonesville, and Democrat John Reeves, of Jonesville.

For Seventh Judicial District Court district attorney: “Brad” Burget, of Vidalia, Andy Magoun, of Monterey, and Ronnie McMillin, of Vidalia.

All three candidates are running as Democrats.

For justice of the peace, district 1: Democrat Justin L. Conner, of Ferriday, and Republican Glen Petty, of Ferriday.For justice of the peace, district 2: Democrat Frank Duson, of Vidalia, and Democrat Lee Staggs, of Vidalia.

For justice of the peace, district 3: Republican Craig L. Guillory, of Vidalia, Democrat Juanita G. Irvin, of Vidalia, and Republican Russell Wagoner, of Vidalia.

For justice of the peace, district 4: Democrat Jerry Stallings, of Ferriday.

For justice of the peace, district 5A: Democrat Charles E. “Charlie” White, of Ferriday.

For justice of the peace, district 5B: Democrat Levear Book, of Monterey.

For constable, district 1: Democrat Rosa W. Elaine, of Ferriday, and Republican “Charlie” Quimby, of Ferriday.

For constable, district 2: Democrat Rickey Hollins, of Vidalia, and Democrat James Royce White, of Vidalia.

For constable, district 3: Democrat Earl Cotton, of Vidalia, and Republican Susan Rabb, of Vidalia.

For constable, district 4: Democrat Ferris “Bull” Durham, of Ridgecrest, and Democrat George Sewell, of Vidalia.

For constable, district 5A: Republican John H. Cowan, of Ferriday.

For constable, district 5B: Democrat Jerry Lipsey, of Monterey.
