WOODVILLE — Judge Jim Persons ruled Thursday the Wilkinson County election scheduled for Tuesday will continue as scheduled.

Incumbent Sheriff Reginald “Pip” Jackson filed to have the election delayed because of a delay in the onset of absentee voting, which was supposed to start June 25 but did not begin until July 9.

In Person’s ruling, he stated that to delay the election would not be proper as there are ways the candidate can address the issue post-election via an election contest.
