Shady Acres Pentecostal Church is rebuilding after a fire destroyed the church building eight years ago.

Mrs. Lushia Evans has been a member of Shady Acres Church for more 20 years. She also lives in Shady Acres. Shady Acres Pentecostal Church has been in the community for over 40 years, she said.

In 2000, the parsonage next to the church caught on fire, due to a wiring shortage, and it spread to the church. The two buildings were lost. Since then, the small community has been rebuilding the new church. The foundation is laid and the church is being framed up. This takes time and money, but with the Lord’s help, as well as many others, the church will once again be a beacon in our community.

We would like to see everybody come together for this great cause. There are many things that need to happen. Above all, prayer is the most important thing. Prayer will make things happen. When God comes on the scene, everything will be all right. Next, we need help with donations. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate, Shady Acres Pentecostal Church has an account set up at Concordia Bank in Ferriday.

And at 7 tonight we are having a gospel singing at the Community Center on Louisiana 15 to help raise money for the material needed to rebuilt.

We are also having a workday at the church site Saturday morning at 168 Shady Acres Circle. It is located one mile from Ferriday on the Jonesville highway in Levens Addition.

Anyone who would like to come and spend the day with us is welcome. Bring your hammer and anything else you want to and help us rebuild this church.

We could also use some musical instruments if anyone has any they do not need anymore.

We would love for anyone who does not have a home church to come and worship with us. This is always the main purpose of God’s church.

Mrs. Evans says this is our family; this is our neighborhood; we need our church back. People like Mrs. Evans have seen family come and go, and would like to see them be able to come back again. They would like to see us all united in the Lord. All in one mind, with one purpose and that is to serve the Lord. The dreams of Mrs. Evans, my mother-in-law, are to see her family saved.

She never went to bed, not one night, that she wouldn’t call out her children’s name. God doesn’t forget that. The building is just the start of it. We want people to come and be a part of the worship. This is the whole purpose of the church.

She says “I believe if just one person gets saved, it will be worth it.”

We hope everyone can come out for the gospel singing tonight. We’ll have local talent and plenty of refreshments. Thanks goes out to everyone who has helped us in anyway. Sheriff Randy Maxwell has sent over plenty of jambalya for everybody to enjoy. Please come hungry.
