Rainbow leads to ‘yes’ on ballot

“Take a look, it’s in a book.”
LeVar Burton’s “Reading Rainbow” made the phrase well known in the 1980s.
Your local library makes its reality possible.
But libraries don’t operate without funding, and in Concordia Parish, funding is up to you.
The 10-year, 8.5-mil library tax that funds most of the budget at the Concordia Parish Library is up for renewal Saturday.
The library collects approximately $850,000 a year through the tax. Those collections are 93 percent of the library’s funding.
Concordia Parish voters who vote “yes” on the proposition are not voting for a new tax. It’s merely a renewal. The money is already being assessed on property taxes.
Knowledge is intangible. It’s priceless.
Though gas prices, milk prices and electricity prices fluctuate from day to day and year to year, knowledge doesn’t have a price tag.
Saying “no” to Saturday’s proposition is saying “no” to the future. Staying home is allowing others to let their “no” votes be heard.
If you need a bestseller, a romance novel, a children’s DVD, large print books, newspapers, Internet access, audiotapes, tax forms and more your local library can help.
Take a look, it’s all in the library and it’s only a “yes” vote away.
