Vidalia land deal finalized

VIDALIA — After seven months of discussion about land on which to build a recreation complex, the City of Vidalia holds the deed to 30 acres of land for that purpose.
The deed to the property officially changed ownership from 12 individual owners to the City of Vidalia at the Concordia Parish Clerk of Court’s office Tuesday.
All of the paperwork was completed earlier this month, and this was just the final formality.
The total selling price for the land was $510,000 — $17,000 an acre.
Those city bought the land from included Charles L. Johnson, Carla C. Johnson, Joy Marchand Johnson, John Leroy Horton, David William Johnson, William Johnson Bigler, Taylor Christine Bigler, Arthur Fredrick Horton, Sara Horton Scarberry, Keith Allen Horton, Brian Arthur Horton, Brian Arthur Horton and David Lee Horton.
The Recreation District No. 3 has agreed to buy an additional 20 acres adjacent to the Vidalia land purchase for development of the recreation complex.
The city will lease its property to the recreation district for 99 years for development of the complex.
