NATCHEZ — After missing almost a month of softball due to bad weather, the Trinity Lady Saints couldn’t quite get things together as they dropped a District 3-AA contest to Riverfield 10-1.

The Lady Saints (0-2, 0-2) gave up eight runs in the top of the first inning to the Lady Raiders and found themselves in a hole early.

Trinity scored a run in the top of the first on a Madelyn Cross single.

Riverfield scored another run on a Taylor Condrey single and the Lady Raiders took a 9-1 lead over Trinity before scoring one final run in the top of the fifth inning.

The Lady Saints played neck and neck with the Lady Raiders after the first inning but couldn’t find any offense to narrow the lead.

“Being off a month has killed us,” Trinity head coach Richie Spears said. “After the first inning we played with them, we just couldn’t get anything going. We didn’t make the plays we needed to.”

Shelby Templeton earned the win for Riverfield while Katie Steele was dealt the loss for Trinity.

Cross batted 1-for-2 for the Lady Saints with a single and an RBI.

Courtney Chapman batted 2-for-4 for Riverfield with a double, a homerun, a walk and three RBIs.

Trinity travels to River Oaks Tuesday for a District 3-AA matchup with the Lady Mustangs.
