NATCHEZ — Calvin Butler has won the District 5 supervisors’ Democratic primary with 53.7 percent of the vote, ousting two-term incumbent S.E. “Spanky” Felter.
Angela Gibson Hutchins has won the District 3 Democratic primary. No Republican candidates are on the ballot, so Hutchins will replace Thomas “Boo” Campbell in January. Campbell did not run for re-election.
Felter received 36.1 percent of the vote and Moe LeBlanc received 10.3 percent in the District 5 race.
Butler will go on to face Republican Grady Wilson in the general election Nov. 8.
Hutchins defeated Wilbert Whittley and Raythell Smith receiving 58.3 percent of the vote in District 3.
In District 1, incumbent Mike Lazarus is leading with 70.6 percent of the vote. All but one voting machine from one precinct in District 1 has reported.
District 1 challengers Bobby Braswell and Derrick Batteste have received 18.1 percent and 11.2 percent respectively.
