VIDALIA — The bond for a Ferriday woman accused of murder was reduced by $175,000 Wednesday.
Judge B.C. Bennett, who was sitting in for Judge Kathy Johnson, granted the bond reduction request by Crystal Gordon in Seventh Judicial District Court Division “A.”
Seventh Judicial Court Division “B” Judge Leo Boothe originally set at her bond at $275,000, which — after the reduction — is now set at $100,000.
Gordon, 19, 114 Brook St., Ferriday, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the Aug. 10 stabbing death of 27-year-old Alex Promise Jr.
The incident happened outside 100 Woodmont St., in Ridgecrest.
At Gordon’s initial magistration, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators told the court that Gordon had them she and Promise had had an altercation earlier that afternoon. The two of them were reportedly romantically involved and living together.
Following the altercation, Promise reportedly told Gordon to take him to Ferriday, and before leaving Gordon armed herself with a kitchen knife because she said she was afraid, investigators said.
While in transit, the quarrel intensified, and Gordon said Promise hit her, and when she tried to leave the vehicle he reportedly grabbed her, investigators said.
It was at that point she allegedly stabbed Promise, investigators said.
Investigators later reportedly found the knife used in the killing in the mud behind the Woodmont Street residence, where her grandmother lives.
Gordon was also booked on a bench warrant for failure to appear at an unrelated court matter at the time of her arrest.
