NATCHEZ – The UPS hub in Natchez no longer provides counter service to customers seeking to send packages.

“The hub will still be open for the drivers, but the inside counter service counter is no longer be open,” said Carol Smith, owner of The Postal Shoppe LLC. “While there are other access points where you can drop off packages, we will be the only full-service authorized UPS shipping location.”

The UPS hub is located at 266 W. Highland Blvd. in Natchez. An access point – which is a third-party retail location where customers can drop off pre-labeled, pre-packaged items – is available at the CVS store at 505 Highway 61 North.

As the only UPS authorized shipper in Natchez, Smith said The Postal Shoppe can pack, weigh and create labels for customers, as well as provide shipping information and details. And, because the location is an independent business, she said customers have a choice of using UPS, Fed Ex, USPS or DHL for shipping services.

The store, located at 347 Devereaux Drive, is open from 8 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Smith said those hours may be extended, depending on customer need.

“I’ve already seen several customers coming to us in the past two weeks,” she said. “And I know before, whenever the computers were down or they had an issue at the hub, they would send customers to us for shipping. We saw a significant increase in business on those days.”

Smith said she also is exploring additional options to provide for shipping customers. “Just this morning I was on the phone with someone in Brookhaven about providing dry ice for shipping,” she said, adding that she is working to anticipate the community’s needs.
